Rebeca Company (/kom'paɲ) Almagro is a postgraduate exchange student from
Universidad de Sevilla. She is doing her PhD in Interlanguage Pragmatics at Universidad de Sevilla and Leuphana Universität Lüneburg through a co-tutelle
agreement. Her study focuses on the pragmatic and discourse performance of Spanish students of English for the Tourism Industry when engaged in a mediated service encounter. She holds a first-class BA in English Studies and a MA in International Communication, Translation and Interpretation. In the 2017/18 academic year, she received a Fulbright grant to teach Spanish at Gardner-Webb University (NC), where she also took several courses. During her time at IU, she will take a number of MA courses at the Department while she teaches Spanish and continues writing her PhD thesis. Her research interests include Second Language Acquisition, Interlanguage Pragmatics, Language Teaching Methodology, Computer-Mediated Communication and Gender Differences.
