Originally from the north of Brazil, Gabriela received her B.A. in Spanish from the University of Virginia, and her M.A in Hispanic Literatures at Indiana University, where she is currently a Ph.D. student. Her research focus on questions of neocolonialism, sexuality, and race in Latin America and the Caribbean; specifically, after United States emerging as an economic and political power in the region. Gabriela is doing her Ph.D. minor is Critical Race and Post-Colonial Studies in the Indiana University Department of American Studies.
