Prerequisite: S280 or placement by exam.
This course offers an introduction to the cultural history of Spain and Latin America. Through the study of a wide variety of cultural phenomena and processes that have shaped the Hispanic world across centuries, students will develop a framework to recognize how cultural production is embedded into geography, historical events, and socio-political systems. Students will acquire knowledge about key events and movements and will also develop analytical tools to understand better how cultural objects and performances produce meaning in the Hispanic World and beyond.
