Course Description

Prerequisite: HISP-S 280 or HISP-S 310; or appropriate placement exam score.

This course will help you develop analytical, cultural, and linguistic skills for reading and formulating critical arguments in both written and oral Spanish. Focusing on the cultural geographies imbedded in multiple literary genres from the early modern era to the contemporary Hispanic world, we will explore socio-political contexts, rhetorical strategies and forms deployed by authors, and suggest how these resonate for us today.
