Kate Lamadrid holds a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language Teaching from the Universidad del Atlántico in Barranquilla, Colombia, her hometown. She obtained her Master of Arts in Romance Languages from the University of Alabama and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics. Her areas of interest include sociolinguistics, dialectology, pragmatics, bilingualism, and code-switching. Her research primarily focuses on the linguistic variety of the Caribbean region of Colombia, known by the citizens as "costeñol".
