Karla Allgood is the Administrative Program Manager of the department. She handles IU Foundation accounts and faculty research accounts; is assistant to the department chair and co-scheduling officer for the department. She may assist the director of the Basic Language Program with AI and nontenure-track staffing. She prepares AI appointments and approves contracts; maintains administrative files; assists tenure-track and nontenure-track faculty and AIs with bureaucratic details such as new accounts, fund balances, etc.; processes visas and supervises support staff.

Jennifer Howard coordinates the make-up and AES exams for all courses. She updates the departmental website and welcome monitor; is the payroll clerk for the department; purchasing coordinator; coordinates textbook orders and special projects; processes special credit and minor applications; updates and publishes the department administrative manual; maintains BEST student and department supervisor evaluation protocols and the evaluation database; maintains instructor observation protocols; prepares and distributes undergraduate and graduate course descriptions; processes class permissions; is the events facilitator; creates and distributes departmental programs, announcements, flyers; and facilitates the departmental directory and tutor list.

Amanda Lueck

Amanda Lueck is one of the advisors for Spanish & Portuguese undergraduates who advises students in academic program planning, course selection, university and departmental procedures and policies, study habits, and career information. She make referrals to other university units and services and provides coordination with the College; assists directors of undergraduate studies and the basic language program in monitoring and evaluating academic progress; handles transfer of credit and study-abroad issues; resolves problems regarding degree completion and grades.

Tracy Richardson

Tracy Richardson is the fiscal officer of departmental accounts, managing IU and IU Foundation accounts, including faculty research accounts.  She works closely with the department Chair and staff to provide support and guidance on all financial matters such as budgets, and business related to human resources operations, payroll, purchasing, travel, reimbursements, new accounts and grants, fund balances, departmental/university policies and procedures, etc.

Scheduling Specialist

The Scheduling Specialist handles processing for course catalog and College CASE proposals for new courses and changes to existing courses; maintains undergraduate files and database; creates and enters the schedule of classes, handles all updates, monitors and regulates class enrollment during registration and late drop/add; signs and expedites most forms concerning undergraduates; processes requests for audits and open program; schedules rooms related to courses; maintains and secures all confidential documents concerning undergraduate affairs; assists with teaching assignments.

Anne-Sophie Stringer is assistant to the director of graduate studies. She processes paperwork for graduate applications, fellowships, awards, etc.; coordinates the graduate admissions screening process; facilitates new student orientation; processes departmental travel grants; coordinates graduate exams (scheduling, preparation of exams, etc.); assimilates current department, College and university policies pertinent to student support, fees and degree completion; secures rooms for events related to graduate studies.
