Our organization is an advisory committee (known as GSAC) that represents all of the graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University. Our mission is to listen to the needs of graduate students, to serve as a liaison between graduate students and faculty, and to coordinate various activities within the department.
Our activities are designed to provide important academic and professional development opportunities for all of our department’s graduate students. Examples include monthly social events, the annual Diálogos graduate student conference, workshops designed to prepare students for M.A. and Ph.D. exams in both literature and linguistics, workshops aimed at helping graduate students on our paths to academic professionalization, fundraisers in collaboration with various Bloomington businesses, and more.
