Juan is a doctoral student in the Hispanic Linguistics program. He received his MA in Applied Linguistics at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and has a BA in Anthropology from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. Juan has worked as a Spanish teacher at Bates College and Hamilton College. His research interests are the acquisition of Spanish as a foreign language and Spanish Pragmatics, specifically humor in language class. Beyond academia, he loves to watch sports and practice tennis and triathlon.
