Tais Xavier Carvalho, originally from Brasília, Brazil, received her B.A. in English Language and Literature from Universidade de Brasília (UnB) and her M.A. in Portuguese Literature from Indiana University. She is currently a Ph.D. student in the Portuguese Program. Her research interests include children's literature - mainly lusophone works. Her master's thesis analyzes the connection between Brazilian and Angolan political issues and children's books written by Ana Maria Machado and Ondjaki.
