Department of Spanish and Portuguese

Sandra Ortiz has been teaching in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese since 2006. She has a master’s degree in English as a Second Language and a degree in Physical Therapy. She is the supervisor for Spanish 200 (third semester) and teaches the Honors Section at that level. She also developed S269 “Spanish for Health Professions,” which she teaches in the classroom during the Fall and Spring semesters and online during the Summer. Her interests include the implementation of flipped classroom and Active Learning strategies to promote students’ learning. She was awarded the Mosaic Fellowship and the Active Learning Grant to promote the implementation of Active Learning strategies in her classroom.
