Professor Kathleen Myers has won an IU Presidential Arts and Humanities grant for her research project A Country of Shepherds: Stories of Tradition and Renewal. In her investigation, Professor Myers shows that pastoralism has long had a place in cultural narratives about the Iberian Peninsula, with traditional areas and means of shepherding holding a deep significance for the collective modern Spanish imagination. She examines archival materials, objects of popular culture, and interviews to study the reconfiguration of pastoralism in contemporary Spain.
