A Herman B. Wells scholar and Phi Beta Kappa initiate, I am graduating from the College of Arts & Sciences with majors in Neuroscience and Spanish and a minor in Healthcare Management and Policy from the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Recently, I was humbled and honored to receive the Clara Javan Goodbody Senior Recognition Award for my extracurricular involvement.
During my time on campus, I was involved in several student organizations, such as TEDxIndianaUniversity, the IU Journal of Undergraduate Research, and Timmy Global Health. In the Spring of 2019, I was given the opportunity to be part of a Timmy Global Health medical service trip to Xela, Guatemala. At the clinics we volunteered in, I worked as a Spanish translator, facilitating conversations between physicians and patients. This experience was truly formative and pushed me to seek out more Spanish-speaking opportunities.
