Estefany Sosa has received a summer FLAS to study the Náhuatl Language and Culture. She will study at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (ITESO), Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara and the Nuhua community in Los Puentes, Hidalgo. The program includes an introduction to the historical, social, and cultural aspects of the Nahua culture as well as to basic vocabulary, frequently used everyday expressions and simple phrases to be able to participate in basic interactions with Nahua speakers. Participants will also travel to the Nahua community of Los Puentes, in the state of Hidalgo, in order to practice what was learned in the course through participation in community activities and ceremonies.
