Professor Félix-Brasdefer has been awarded the CAHI Grant in Support of Research + Creative Activity for his/her project, entitled The Intercultural Speaker in Action: A Pragmatic-Discursive Perspective on Intercultural Communicative Competence, which examines research and creative aspects of intercultural communication, interculturality, global citizenship, and language learning among second language learners in a foreign language classroom and study abroad. The project investigates aspects of intercultural interaction, the co-construction of cultures in interaction, and intercultural competence among learners who participate in communicative acts with speakers from other languages and cultures in two learning contexts.
