The National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi, and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) have selected IU Spanish major Kathryn Petersen as the 2021 recipient of the Mario Vargas Llosa Award (2010 Nobel Prize in Literature), granted yearly to one undergraduate Spanish major in an US university who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all upper-division courses completed and exemplary involvement in extra-curricular activities as related to Spanish. Kathryn will be recognized at the 103rd Annual Conference (July 8-11) of the AATSP in Atlanta, GA during the conference's Awards Ceremony on Friday, July 9 from 3:30-5:00pm.
