- Course Description
Prerequisite: S280 or S310 or equivalent.
The objective of this course is to enhance intercultural and linguistic competence in the business world through the study of the use of Spanish in business across the Spanish-speaking world. Students will become proficient in both written and oral commercial Spanish in a variety of formats and contexts, including the development of a portfolio in Spanish to seek employment in a Spanish-speaking country. Students will work on reading, writing and will improve their oral skills through practice related to real-life business situations, such as oral expositions. Students will also acquire knowledge on the customs, protocols, and cultural practices of the business world in Spanish-speaking countries and communities. Through practical case studies, students will critically engage on a variety of topics related to cross-cultural business communication, cultural behaviors, and intercultural conflicts. This course is conducted exclusively in Spanish and is open to all students with the prerequisites, including those not seeking a major or minor in business.
Introduction to the technical language of the business world, with emphasis on intercultural communication. Instruction in Spanish.
