Students will learn about culture, art, literature, history, and sociolinguistic issues related to Hispanic and Latinx groups in the United States. The course will emphasize a process-oriented approach to writing and will help students develop their academic research and writing skills. Students will also engage in class discussions, debates, and presentations, and will work on a collaborative creative group project. Class activities will also prompt students to reflect and analyze textual and visual sources from their bilingual and bicultural backgrounds.
