Dear alumni and friends,
Greetings from a verdant Bloomington! This past year of 2023-24 was again full of new developments and accomplishments, some of which you can even read about in the newsletter.
You will find in the sections of this Gaceta issue more detailed accounts and spotlights on the accomplishments of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and alumni.
Allow me to point out a few highlights: Melissa Dinverno was recognized this year with a yearlong NEH-fellowship for her book project Mediating Memory: Federico García Lorca and the Legacies of the Past in Democratic Spain. As you might know, a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship counts among the most prestigious academic awards in the humanities, and this award will allow Melissa to work for a full year on her monograph, which will be a major book on García Lorca and the way he has been remembered in Spain.
