I graduated from Indiana University in 2019 with a Ph.D. in Spanish (Hispanic Literatures) and a Ph.D. minor in Latino Studies. I was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and moved to Louisville, Kentucky when I was 10. My decision to pursue studies in Hispanic Literatures and Latino Studies was initially driven by questions regarding my own language, identity, and migration experiences. Over the years, my questions expanded toward broader sociopolitical and transnational concerns.
My time as a graduate student in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese shaped my professional trajectory in many ways. The wide range of teaching experiences and research support I received at IU helped me secure a job as assistant professor of Spanish and Latinx Studies at Rider University in 2019.
